How Room Temperature and Humidity Influence the Bikram Yoga Experience?
Traditional Bikram Yoga 90 is practiced in a heated room, typically around 105°F (40.5°C). The elevated temperature increases the body’s thermal load and encourages sweating throughout the 90-minute sequence. Heat can help muscles feel more pliable, which may make certain movements and stretches feel more accessible. However, this does not mean practitioners should force themselves deeper into a pose. Greater perceived flexibility does not eliminate the need for proper alignment, controlled movement, and respect for individual limits. The heat also increases cardiovascular demand. Heart rate may rise as the body works to regulate its temperature, making the practice feel more physically demanding than the same postures performed in a cooler room.
